Prof. Dr. Till Zimmermann

Till Zimmermann advises and defends clients with a particular focus on white-collar criminal law, namely in the areas of corruption, embezzlement and money laundering as well as in matters of asset confiscation. In addition, he has proven expertise in medical and medical malpractice law as well as in the law governing the resumption of criminal proceedings.

Based on many years of experience, Till Zimmermann works as a consultant and expert for political decision-makers, international organizations, companies and private individuals. He is also active as a criminal defense lawyer.

Till Zimmermann is Director of the Düsseldorf Institute for Legal Issues in Medicine (IMR) and a Fellow of the Trier Institute for Criminal Law on Money Laundering and Corruption (TrIGeKo), which he co-founded.

Till Zimmermann has held the Chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf since 2023. He previously held the Chair of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law, including European and international aspects, at the University of Trier from 2018 to 2023 and was a visiting professor at the College of Law at National Taiwan University in Taipei in 2023.

Till Zimmermann studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer. Further professional stations took him to the University of Passau and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, where he was awarded a teaching license for criminal law, criminal procedure law, commercial criminal law and international criminal law in 2017.
