Philipp Butler represents companies, municipalities and individuals in all areas of white collar criminal law. A focus of his work are internal investigations and the coordination of complex investigative proceedings, particularly in the context of politically and/or media sensitive areas. He also defends his clients in hearings and court proceedings.

Prior to (re)joining Wessing & Partner, Philipp Butler worked for Prof. Dr. Jochen Lüdicke from 2020 to 2022 as a tax lawyer advising on corporate tax law, in particular on matters of asset and company succession.

Philipp Butler studied at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg and University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf with a stage at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Wuppertal. At LMU Munich he is working on a doctorate regarding a topic of international tax law.

In 2019, he was admitted to the bar at the Düsseldorf Bar Association, and joined Wessing & Partner.
